Hey everyone,
Hope you're all doing well. Wanted to share some updates on a few different projects I've been focused on lately: a deep dive into the world of SQYWAR, the launch of my new podcast, and some reflections on the ongoing evolution of ANCIENT VAPOR!
SQYWAR: Jumping into the $QOM Qommunity on QL1!
First up, I'm excited to talk about SQYWAR (https://sqywar.maxcapa.city/)! This is a new collection I've created specifically for the $QOM community on the QL1 chain.
I have to give a huge shout-out to the $QOM crew (you can learn more about the project at qom.one) – they are genuinely one of the most dedicated, passionate, and welcoming communities I've encountered in this space. They actually invited me to create a collection for their chain, which was an awesome gesture. It's been really rewarding navigating the new environment of the QL1 chain and its community while creating work specifically for them.
For those who might be new to QL1 or want to jump in and explore SQYWAR, navigating a new chain can sometimes be tricky. To help out, here’s a quick onboarding guide:
The QL1 chain will be added to your MetaMask automatically by connecting on qomswap.com
Bridge USDT from ETH L1 to QOM QL1 at bridge.qom.one (The USDT pool has the most liquidity on the bridge)
For best results, use round numbers only, no decimals
I'm really excited about this project and the energy of the community around it!
Podcast Launch: "Just Happy to Be Here" - Episode 1 with Desultor
Next, as I mentioned briefly before, I've launched my new podcast, "Just Happy to Be Here"! The idea is to chat with fellow artists navigating this wild NFT/cryptoart space.
I was thrilled to have the fantastic desultor (https://desultor.art/) as my very first guest. We had a great conversation covering contemporary art, PFPs as art, Star Trek, analog video, and even proper chainsaw handling! I'm hoping he'll join me as a regular co-host down the line.
You can listen to the first episode here:
I'm looking forward to recording more conversations and sharing them with you all.
ANCIENT VAPOR: Reflections on Bridging Worlds & What's Coming
Now, let's touch base on the ongoing vaporwave exploration you can read more about on the wiki here: https://maxcapacity.wiki/wiki/ANCIENT_VAPOR. Recently, I experimented with releasing some pieces under the ANCIENT VAPOR name on Etherlink. My goal was to try and bridge the gap, as I know I have collectors who primarily use Tezos L1 and others more comfortable on ETH L2s.
Honestly, the results weren't quite what I'd hoped for in terms of broad adoption. While Etherlink is a promising technology, I suspect the extra step and potential hassle of bridging funds might have been a barrier for many. It's a good reminder that even with cool tech, user experience and ease-of-access are paramount. It's all a learning process, and I'm still hopeful that Etherlink will continue to develop and gain traction, making cross-chain collecting smoother in the future.
Despite that specific hurdle, the support for this project across platforms has been fantastic. To show my appreciation and keep the vibes flowing, I'm planning thank you gifts for collectors on both chains!
Collectors who picked up ANCIENT VAPOR pieces on Etherlink should keep an eye out for details on a free claim opportunity back on ETH L1.
And collectors holding pieces from the ΑΠCΙΞNT VΑPΩR collection on Tezos can expect a free airdrop directly to their wallets as a thank you.
You'll notice the project's theme is ongoing, and I'm using slight variations on the name (like ANCIENT VAPOR vs. ΑΠCΙΞNT VΑPΩR) to help differentiate the specific collections or series across chains. More details on the timing and specifics for the claim and airdrop will be coming soon!
Until next time…
That's the main download for now! Lots of different things happening, as always. Thanks for following along and for all your support across these different chains and projects. Keep an eye out for those ANCIENT VAPOR gifts!
Take care,
Max Capacity
Great work man. I feel this statement a lot: "It's a good reminder that even with cool tech, user experience and ease-of-access are paramount."
I think a lot of builders get caught up building, and they think it's cool and amazing and it might be from the tech side but from the user side, too many changes too fast can make me paralyzed lol. Plus, instead of getting easier, it just feels like we get more complex, and we really sort of isolate behind that complexity. Which means, builders are building for the same small group of people and nobody is coming to save us from ourselves. Anyway, I will stop rambling on now. Have a great one!
Sick work.
